The daily maintenance of wooden dining tables mainly includes three aspects: cleaning, maintenance and protection.
Cleaning
Use a soft dry cloth to gently wipe the tabletop to remove dust and debris. Avoid using rough cloths such as steel wool or coarse fiber brushes to avoid scratching the surface.
For minor stains, you can use a cleaning solution made by mixing warm water and a small amount of mild detergent. After gently wiping, wipe off the detergent residue with a clean wet cloth, and finally wipe dry with a dry cloth.
Avoid using detergents containing strong acids, strong alkalis or organic solvents. These chemicals may corrode the paint or wax layer on the surface of the furniture.
Maintenance
Control indoor temperature and humidity. Solid wood furniture is very sensitive to ambient temperature and humidity. It is recommended to place it in an environment with relatively stable temperature and humidity. The suitable temperature is generally 18-24 degrees Celsius, and the humidity is kept at 40%-60%. In the dry season, a humidifier can be used to increase the air humidity, and in the humid season, ventilation should be paid attention to.
Avoid direct contact of chemicals and overheated objects with the tabletop. Chemical cleaners or overheated objects may damage the natural color and texture of the wood.
Use a special maintenance wax to polish the tabletop regularly. This not only protects the wood, but also makes its surface smoother and brighter.
Protection
Prevent direct sunlight. The ultraviolet rays in the sun can cause the wood to fade and crack. The furniture should be placed in a position away from direct sunlight, or covered with curtains, blinds, etc..
Avoid collision with heavy objects. Although solid wood furniture is relatively strong, it is still necessary to avoid collision with heavy objects, especially when carrying or moving furniture.
Check and repair damage regularly. If scratches or cracks are found on the furniture, they should be repaired in time. Small scratches can be filled with wood repair paste, and it is recommended to seek help from professionals for larger cracks.
